Helping You Breathe, Sleep, and Live Better

At Cascade TMJ & Airway, we are a dental sleep apnea clinic located in Wenatchee, Washington that believes care should go beyond teeth, focusing on how breathing, sleep, and airway health affect the whole body.

Our mission is to help patients breathe better, sleep deeper, and feel healthier by addressing the root causes of sleep apnea, snoring, TMJ pain, and airway dysfunction. A multidisciplinary team, including board-certified sleep medicine specialists, works together to provide expert, coordinated care.

Our approach is grounded in clinical sleep medicine, combining evidence-based diagnostics with airway-focused treatment strategies tailored to each patient’s needs.

Our multidisciplinary team has extensive experience in treating sleep disorders by addressing airway function, breathing patterns, and sleep quality together rather than in isolation.

Treating Airway Obstructions at the Source

The jaw, airway, and sleep health are more connected than most people realize. At the center of it all is the structure and position of the jaws and how they behave while we’re resting. When the jaws are underdeveloped, misaligned, or positioned too far back, the airway becomes cramped. In children, this shows up early as sleep-disordered breathing — mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, and behavioral issues that are often mistaken for ADHD.

Left untreated, a narrow airway in childhood frequently carries forward into adulthood as obstructive sleep apnea, where the airway collapses repeatedly throughout the night, starving the body of oxygen.
TMJ and TMD Disorders are symptoms of the same jaw dysfunction that restricts the airway also creates stress on the temporomandibular joint. Patients who clench and grind — often an unconscious attempt to reposition the jaw and open the airway — place enormous strain on the joint, leading to pain, clicking, headaches, and muscle tension.

In many cases, TMJ symptoms and sleep apnea aren’t separate problems. They’re two expressions of the same underlying issue: a jaw and airway that aren’t working in harmony. Treating these conditions together — rather than in isolation — leads to better, longer-lasting outcomes for patients of all ages.

Our goal is not just quieter nights, but:

As part of the evaluation process, patients may be asked to keep a sleep diary to track sleep habits, symptoms, and patterns that help guide diagnostic and treatment decisions. In some cases, behavioral therapy may be used alongside medical treatment to address habits, sleep schedules, or learned sleep behaviors that affect overall sleep quality.

Because sleep apnea may coexist with other sleep disorders, a comprehensive evaluation helps ensure symptoms are not attributed to breathing issues alone.
When PAP therapy is part of care, our team may work closely with respiratory therapists to support device setup, patient education, and long-term comfort.

Certain medical conditions, including neuromuscular disorders, can affect breathing control and airway stability, which is why comprehensive evaluation is essential when diagnosing and treating sleep apnea.
